Where it came from
The Dr. Eggman As Skeleton Funko Pop, numbered 1279 in the Pop! Games series, was released as part of a wave of figures celebrating the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The design draws directly from the 2022 game Sonic Frontiers, specifically referencing the character's appearance in the game's Halloween-themed event. By reimagining the iconic antagonist in a skeletal motif, Funko aimed to blend the signature aesthetic of the Sonic series with seasonal flair, catering to collectors who focus on character variants and game-specific milestones.
The figure features the distinct proportions characteristic of the Pop! line, capturing Dr. Eggman’s signature mustache and goggles atop a skeletal frame. As with many figures in the Pop! Games collection, this piece was intended to serve as a niche collectible for franchise completists. Its reception has been largely confined to the community of Sonic enthusiasts, who value it as a playful representation of the character's long-standing history of reinvention within the video game medium.
