Where it came from
The Dragonzord Pop! figure, designated number 534 in the Television series, was released as a 2017 Fall Convention exclusive. It represents the iconic Power Coin-controlled zord from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, a show that defined 1990s children's television programming. The figure captures the creature's formidable, green-and-gold armored aesthetic, designed to appeal to the intense nostalgia of fans who grew up watching the Green Ranger pilot the mechanical dragon.
Funko’s design approach for this release emphasized the exaggerated, oversized proportions characteristic of the Pop! line while retaining the specific, jagged mechanical details of the Dragonzord’s television costume. Upon its debut, the figure became a sought-after piece for collectors of 90s tokusatsu-inspired merchandise. It reflects the broader trend of high-end toy manufacturers leveraging retro pop culture intellectual properties to bridge the gap between toy collecting and adult fan appreciation.
