Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line, number 1642 depicts the character Dream, also known as Morpheus, from the 2022 Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic book series, The Sandman. The figure was produced to coincide with the show’s debut, capturing the titular protagonist’s gothic, ethereal aesthetic as portrayed by actor Tom Sturridge. It serves as a modern collectible tribute to the decades-spanning influence of the original DC Comics source material.
The design draws heavily from the costume department of the Netflix series, emphasizing Dream’s signature silhouette: pale, windswept hair, dark robes, and an enigmatic expression. Funko’s styling team translated the comic-accurate costume into their characteristic vinyl figure format, aiming to preserve the somber, dream-like quality of the character. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the show who appreciated the attention to the character's distinct, melancholic visual identity.
