Where it came from
Earl Sinclair, the patriarch of the prehistoric sitcom Dinosaurs, was released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line in 2020. The figure commemorates the 1991 television series created by Michael Jacobs and Bob Young, which utilized elaborate animatronic suits produced by Jim Henson's Creature Shop to depict the daily lives of a middle-class dinosaur family. The show is fondly remembered for its biting social satire and its surprisingly somber, ecologically-themed series finale.
The figure reflects the design of the Megalosaurus protagonist, complete with his signature blue work shirt and tie. In crafting the Pop! silhouette, designers focused on capturing Earl's expressive, grumpy facial features and distinct reptilian brow. Upon its release, the figure was met with nostalgia from fans who grew up watching the original series during its initial run on ABC, marking a resurgence of interest in the show's unique aesthetic and cultural footprint.
