Where it came from
El Kabong was released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, numbered 167, capturing the swashbuckling alter-ego of the titular character from the Hanna-Barbera series The Quick Draw McGraw Show. The figure depicts the anthropomorphic horse Quick Draw McGraw in his masked vigilante persona, complete with his signature cape and acoustic guitar, which he famously used to bop villains on the head during his segments. This design pays homage to the character’s original 1959 television debut, where his Zorro-inspired antics provided a comedic take on the masked hero trope of the era.
The figure was produced to celebrate the enduring legacy of classic animation, specifically the colorful and often surreal world crafted by Hanna-Barbera in the mid-twentieth century. As with most items in the Animation line, the aesthetic focus is on translating 2D hand-drawn character traits into a stylized 3D vinyl form, maintaining the exaggerated features and vibrant color palette that defined the original cartoon. It was received by fans of the series as a nostalgic artifact that distilled the chaotic, slapstick humor of the 1960s into a contemporary collectible format.
