Where it came from
The Elixir Ape figure is part of the Pop! Asia series, a specialized line released by Funko to celebrate cultural icons, artists, and regional designs primarily across the Asian market. This particular piece represents the collaborative spirit of the Fansack Art series, which focuses on blending urban vinyl aesthetics with contemporary illustrative styles. It was created to offer collectors a unique artistic interpretation of primate-themed folklore that diverges from standard licensed media.
The design of the Elixir Ape reflects a stylized, whimsical approach to character modeling, characteristic of the broader Pop! Asia movement. Funko’s design team collaborated with regional creative partners to ensure the aesthetic resonated with fans of designer toys. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors who prioritize artistic variety within the Pop! format, marking it as a distinctive outlier compared to the more common film and television character iterations.
