Where it came from
The Energizer Bunny debuted in 1989 as a satirical response to competitors, quickly becoming one of the most recognizable icons in advertising history. Created by the agency DDB Worldwide, the pink, sunglasses-wearing rabbit was designed to embody the superior longevity of Energizer batteries, endlessly marching while others faded away. This specific Funko Pop! iteration, released as part of the Ad Icons line, captures the classic aesthetic of the mascot, featuring the signature drum, sandals, and a flocked texture designed to evoke the appearance of the plush costume used in commercials.
Funko introduced the Energizer Bunny as number 73 in the Ad Icons series to celebrate the enduring impact of mid-century and modern commercial mascots. By utilizing a flocked finish, the designers aimed to provide a tactile experience that distinguishes this figure from standard vinyl releases. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors of pop culture memorabilia, who value it as a nod to the ubiquity of 1990s television branding and the persistent legacy of the Energizer marketing campaign.
