Where it came from
The Erik Killmonger (Masked) Pop! figure, numbered 278, was released by Funko in 2018 as part of the initial merchandise wave accompanying the Marvel Studios film Black Panther. It depicts the antagonist N'Jadaka, also known as Erik Killmonger, wearing the traditional West African-inspired mask he steals from the Museum of Great Britain early in the film. The design is intended to capture the character's tactical, menacing aesthetic, characterized by the intricate gold-and-black detailing of the ceremonial mask.
The figure was designed by Funko’s internal creative team to fit within their standardized Pop! vinyl aesthetic, which emphasizes oversized heads and stylized, minimalist features. Upon release, the figure was widely received as a core component of the Black Panther set, appealing both to fans of the film's cultural impact and to collectors of Marvel cinematic merchandise. It remains a representative piece of the franchise's expansive licensing reach during the peak of the character's pop culture resurgence.
