Where it came from
Ernesto de la Cruz, the charismatic and legendary musician from Disney-Pixar's 2017 film Coco, was immortalized as a Funko Pop! figure to coincide with the movie's theatrical release. As part of the broader Pop! Disney line, this figure serves as a tribute to the film's exploration of Mexican heritage, family tradition, and the Día de los Muertos celebration. The character design captures Ernesto’s iconic white charro suit, his signature guitar, and his classic, charming mustache, reflecting the grand, operatic persona he maintained throughout his career in the film.
Funko’s design team leaned heavily into the film's vibrant aesthetic, prioritizing the intricate embroidery patterns on Ernesto's clothing and his flamboyant posture to differentiate him from other figures in the set. The figure was received warmly by collectors and fans of the film, who appreciated the attention to detail regarding his specific cinematic appearance. It remains a notable piece for those collecting Disney-Pixar memorabilia, representing both the film’s central antagonist and its distinct, folkloric visual style.
