Where it came from
The Freddy Funko as Rick figure was released as part of the Box of Fun series, a staple event for Funko collectors that typically debuts at San Diego Comic-Con. This specific figure reimagines Funko's company mascot, Freddy Funko, dressed as Rick Sanchez from the Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty. It was designed to celebrate the crossover between the cult-hit franchise and the brand's own mascot, serving as a limited-edition chase item for convention attendees.
The design draws heavily from the recognizable aesthetic of Rick Sanchez, featuring the character's signature unkempt blue hair, lab coat, and portal gun, while retaining the oversized head and minimalist features characteristic of the Pop! line. Because these figures were produced in a limited run of 3,000 units, they became an immediate focal point for collectors, representing a niche subset of both the Funko mascot series and the broader Rick and Morty merchandising catalog.
