Provenance

Where it came from

The Freddy Funko as Voltron [Blacklight] figure was released as a limited edition collectible, designed to bridge the aesthetic gap between Funko’s mascot, Freddy Funko, and the iconic mecha from the 1980s animated series Voltron. Released during a period where blacklight-reactive variants became a prominent trend in the Funko Pop! hobby, this piece utilizes neon-saturated colors intended to glow under ultraviolet lighting, leaning into a retro-futuristic, psychedelic design sensibility.

This specific figure was produced as a convention-exclusive style release, marketed toward long-term collectors of the Funko brand. It reflects the company's strategy of 'mashup' collectibles, which place Freddy Funko in various iconic costumes to maintain engagement within the community. While it is highly prized for its scarcity and vibrant color palette, it serves primarily as a decorative homage to both the character and the classic Voltron franchise rather than as a mass-market toy.
