Where it came from
The Freddy Funko Blacklight (Yellow Face) figure was released as part of the Freddy’s Funtastic Voyage event, a virtual experience launched by Funko to engage their community during the peak of global social distancing. This figure represents a specialized design aesthetic within the Pop! line, utilizing high-contrast, neon-reactive pigments intended to glow when placed under ultraviolet lighting, a technique that transformed the brand's signature mascot into a vibrant, stylized collectible.
The design was conceived by Funko's internal creative team to pay homage to the psychedelic art trends of the 1960s and 70s, prioritizing bold, non-naturalistic color palettes over traditional character likeness. Upon release, the figure was primarily distributed through digital event-linked drops, quickly becoming a sought-after piece for collectors who focus on the brand's mascot-themed releases and those interested in the evolving experimental paint applications within the Pop! series.
