Funky Phantom (NYCC)

The Funky Phantom Pop! figure, number 446 in the Animation series, was released as a convention exclusive for New York Comic Con. It celebrates the 1971 Hanna-Barbera animated series of the same name, which centered on a group of teenagers and a Revolutionary War-era ghost solving mysteries. The character design stays faithful to the original animation style, capturing the phantom's signature tri-corner hat and colonial attire while adapting the aesthetic to the stylized, large-eyed form factor synonymous with the Pop! line.

This release serves as a nod to the nostalgic interest in Hanna-Barbera’s mid-century animation library, a common focus for Funko's niche collectors. Designers at Funko focused on translating the show's retro color palette and ghostly, translucent-adjacent aesthetic into a collectible vinyl format. While the show itself remains a cult classic rather than a mainstream juggernaut, the figure was well-received by fans of vintage animation who appreciate the representation of shorter-lived or secondary shows from the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons.
