Where it came from
The Goon Squad figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Games series, specifically to coincide with the 2019 launch of the video game Rage 2, developed by Avalanche Studios and id Software. This particular character represents the chaotic, punk-rock-inspired raiders that populate the game’s post-apocalyptic wasteland, serving as a primary antagonist faction designed to evoke a sense of desperate, neon-drenched anarchy.
The design of the figure captures the distinct aesthetic crafted for the game, featuring the character's signature mohawk, improvised body armor, and rugged, utilitarian gear. Funko aimed to translate the exaggerated, over-the-top character models of the game into their stylized vinyl format. Upon release, the figure was met with modest interest from fans of the game and collectors of the Games series, functioning as a thematic souvenir of the franchise’s unique visual identity.
