Where it came from
Haruko Haruhara, the eccentric space-faring investigator from the cult classic anime FLCL, was rendered as a Pop! Animation vinyl figure as part of Funko's effort to expand their presence in the adult animation market. Produced to celebrate the series' enduring influence and its 2018 revival, the design captures her iconic look, complete with her signature goggles and yellow Vespa, reflecting the chaotic, high-energy aesthetic that defined the original Gainax production.
The figure was conceptualized by Funko's design team to distill the frantic, surrealist visual language of director Kazuya Tsurumaki into the simplified, stylized Pop! format. It was released to a dedicated fanbase that values the show's experimental animation style and complex narrative, serving as a nostalgic centerpiece for collectors of mid-2000s anime memorabilia. The design choice to include her trademark bass guitar highlights the show's thematic focus on music and teenage rebellion.
