Hello Kitty (Space)

Released as part of the Sanrio Pop! series, the Hello Kitty (Space) figure represents a fusion of Sanrio’s iconic character design with the thematic aesthetic of classic science fiction. Sanrio has historically partnered with various media brands to dress Hello Kitty in thematic costumes, and this specific iteration draws on the space-exploration motifs that became popular in character merchandise during the early 2010s. The figure features the character outfitted in a stylized space suit, maintaining the minimalist design language that defines the Funko Pop! aesthetic.

The design follows the standard Funko Pop! formula, utilizing a simplified, large-headed silhouette to highlight Hello Kitty’s signature red bow and whiskers while incorporating specific space-gear details like a metallic-toned visor and suit accents. As with many pieces in the Sanrio line, the item was marketed toward collectors of both Japanese pop culture artifacts and vinyl toys. Upon release, it was received as a playful addition to the broader Sanrio collection, appealing to fans of the franchise's long tradition of character cross-overs and thematic costume releases.
