Where it came from
Herb Welch, the iconic abrasive reporter portrayed by Bill Hader on Saturday Night Live, was immortalized as a Funko Pop! figure as part of the line celebrating the show's enduring legacy. Released to coincide with the broader SNL 50th-anniversary activations, the figure captures Welch's signature look, complete with his vintage-style microphone and frustrated expression, reflecting his recurring role as the 'Get Off The Shed!' correspondent.
The figure’s design leans into the caricature style emblematic of the Pop! line, emphasizing the character's signature hunched posture and frantic energy. It was developed to honor one of the more memorable recurring sketches of the 2000s, appealing to fans of Bill Hader’s tenure on the show. Upon release, it was well-received by collectors who prioritize figures that represent specific, high-energy character performances from the SNL archives.
