Where it came from
Hiddy is a stylized vinyl figure released as part of the Funko Pop! Asia series, specifically commemorating the iconic character created by the Japanese toy brand Secret Base. Secret Base is renowned in the designer toy community for its subversive, often macabre aesthetic, and Hiddy serves as a signature mascot that blends classic character tropes with a distinct street-art edge. This figure was designed to translate Secret Base's high-end, limited-run resin and soft vinyl collectibles into the accessible Funko Pop! format.
The collaboration represented a bridge between Western mass-market collectible culture and the niche, highly sought-after world of Japanese designer toys. By selecting Hiddy for the Pop! Asia line, Funko aimed to appeal to dedicated collectors of urban vinyl who value the unique silhouette and character design rooted in Japanese subculture. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the genre for maintaining the recognizable design language of the original Secret Base creation while fitting seamlessly into the established Funko numbering system.
