Where it came from
The Hula Minion Funko Pop, numbered 125 in the Pop! Movies series, was produced to coincide with the release of the 2013 film Despicable Me 2. As part of the rapidly expanding vinyl figure line, this piece features a Minion dressed in a traditional grass skirt and coconut bra, referencing a specific comedic sequence from the movie where the characters perform a hula dance.
Funko’s design team created this figure to capture the whimsical, slapstick nature of the Despicable Me franchise, opting for the signature oversized head and stylized aesthetic that defines the brand. The glow-in-the-dark variant was released as a specialized version, aimed at collectors who favor unique finishing treatments, and it remains a staple representation of the early era of the Pop! vinyl phenomenon.
