Where it came from
The Jack Torrance Pop! figure, designated as number 456 in the Pop! Movies line, was released by Funko to commemorate Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 psychological horror masterpiece, The Shining. It captures the character’s most iconic cinematic moment: his descent into madness while stalking his family through the Overlook Hotel, clutching an axe. The figure is designed to reflect the aesthetic of Stephen King's adaptation, focusing on the character's signature corduroy jacket and unkempt appearance.
Funko’s design team sought to distill the tension of the film into their signature stylized, oversized-head silhouette. By placing the character in his climactic, menacing posture, the designers aimed to satisfy collectors of horror memorabilia who appreciate the transition of high-brow cinema into accessible pop culture icons. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the genre, quickly becoming a staple for horror-themed displays.
