JD Fenix (Swarm Gunk) (Glow in the Dark)

Released as part of the Funko Pop! Games line in 2016, this figure commemorates JD Fenix, the central protagonist introduced in Gears of War 4. This specific iteration depicts him covered in the viscous, alien biological substance known as Swarm Gunk, a signature visual motif from the game’s transition into the new generation of hardware and horror-focused enemy design. The figure was produced to celebrate the franchise's shift under the stewardship of The Coalition, which sought to rejuvenate the series' aesthetic with more fluid and menacing character designs.

The figure’s design emphasizes the grit and intensity of the Gears of War universe, utilizing a specialized glow-in-the-dark finish to highlight the bioluminescent nature of the Swarm's corruption. Created as a stylized vinyl collectible, it follows Funko’s traditional aesthetic of oversized heads and simplified features, intended to balance the dark, violent tone of the source material with a approachable, displayable format. It was met with interest from franchise enthusiasts who valued the thematic tie-in to the specific in-game encounters with Swarm enemies.
