Where it came from
Released in 2018 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original Jurassic Park film, this figure depicts John Hammond, the visionary and pragmatic creator of the titular theme park. The design captures Hammond in his iconic safari attire, complete with his signature white beard and walking stick topped with a mosquito trapped in amber, a hallmark detail reflecting the film’s narrative device for cloning dinosaurs.
The figure was produced by Funko as part of their Pop! Movies line, adhering to the brand's signature aesthetic of oversized heads and minimalist features. It was intended to appeal to fans of the franchise who sought to round out their collections with the central, albeit divisive, character who set the park's catastrophic events in motion. The design was received by collectors as a faithful representation of the character's memorable on-screen appearance.
