Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line to commemorate the 1997 science fiction cult classic Starship Troopers, this figure depicts the protagonist Johnny Rico in his infantry gear, specifically styled with mud-spattered detailing. It was issued as a Summer Convention exclusive, a common strategy for Funko to celebrate niche or beloved cinematic properties that command a dedicated following.
The figure draws its aesthetic inspiration from the brutalist, utilitarian military uniforms worn by the Mobile Infantry in Paul Verhoeven’s satirical adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein’s novel. By featuring the muddy 'battle-worn' variant, the design aims to capture the intensity of the film's climax on the planet Klendathu, appealing to fans who appreciate the specific grit and irony inherent in the movie’s production design.
