Where it came from
The Kaboom Cereal mascot, a colorful clown, originally appeared in the 1960s as the face of General Mills' fruit-flavored cereal. The character was designed to capture the whimsical, high-energy aesthetic common in children's television advertising during that era, featuring a distinctive striped hat and vibrant circus-themed attire that resonated with the demographic of Saturday morning cartoon viewers.
Funko released this Pop! Ad Icon figure as part of a nostalgic push to celebrate classic breakfast cereal characters that had largely faded from grocery store shelves. By recreating the clown in the signature Funko vinyl aesthetic—emphasizing the oversized head and stylized facial features—the designers aimed to evoke a sense of mid-century advertising charm for adult collectors who grew up with the brand.
