Where it came from
Kars is a central antagonist from the second story arc of the long-running manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, titled Battle Tendency. First appearing in the early 1990s, the character represents the leader of the Pillar Men, an ancient race of superhuman beings. Funko released this figure as part of the Pop! Animation line to satisfy the growing global demand for high-quality merchandise representing Hirohiko Araki’s distinctively stylized character designs.
The figure is designed to capture Kars's signature appearance, characterized by his flowing hair and ornate, Aztec-inspired aesthetic. Funko designers prioritized translating the exaggerated, high-fashion sensibilities of the manga’s art style into their standard vinyl form factor. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by the dedicated JoJo fanbase, who often prize the series’ collectibles for their ability to distill complex, avant-garde character models into recognizable, shelf-ready display pieces.
