Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line, this figure captures Kenny Powers, the protagonist of the cult HBO series Eastbound & Down, during his time in Mexico. The series, which debuted in 2009, was co-created by Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and Ben Best. It follows the erratic and abrasive career of a former Major League Baseball pitcher as he attempts to reclaim his former glory, with the character's signature blend of hubris and vulnerability becoming a hallmark of the show's dark comedic style.
The figure design mirrors the aesthetic of the third season, where Kenny adopts a heavy Mexican influence, including his distinctive oversized sombrero and flamboyant attire. Funko designed this piece to translate the character's exaggerated, larger-than-life personality into their signature stylized vinyl format. It remains a sought-after collectible for fans of the show who appreciate the commitment to the specific, outlandish visual era that defined this chapter of Powers' turbulent journey.
