Where it came from
The Laura Moon (Decomposing) Pop! figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Television series, specifically tied to the Starz adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel, American Gods. Debuting in 2018, this figure captures a distinct moment from the show's narrative, representing the character in her undead state following her resurrection. The design focuses on translating the gothic, supernatural aesthetic of the series into the stylized, large-headed vinyl format that Funko is known for, emphasizing her pallid complexion and the specific wardrobe she wears during her journey.
The character design was developed to align with Funko's signature aesthetic while maintaining visual cues from the television production. By highlighting the 'decomposing' aspect of the character, the designers aimed to satisfy collectors who favor the more macabre or niche entries within the Television line. Upon its release, the figure was primarily marketed toward fans of the dark fantasy genre and collectors of the broader American Gods range, generally being received as a faithful if unconventional interpretation of the source material.
