Where it came from
Released as part of the Disneyland Resort 65th Anniversary collection, this Funko Pop! Ride commemorates one of the most iconic attractions in theme park history: the Mad Tea Party. First opening at Disneyland in 1955, the attraction was inspired by the chaotic tea party sequence from the 1951 animated film Alice in Wonderland. Funko designed this oversized figure to capture the whimsical essence of the ride, featuring the Mad Hatter sitting within a vibrant, spinning teacup base that mirrors the aesthetic of the classic park experience.
The figure, numbered 87 in the Pop! Rides series, was produced to celebrate the park's six and a half decades of operation. Design-wise, the piece emphasizes the playful, rounded features typical of the Funko aesthetic while incorporating specific details from the attraction, such as the Hatter's signature oversized top hat and the intricate patterns on the teacup. It was received by collectors as a nostalgic homage to a staple of the Fantasyland area, serving as a tangible memento for those who grew up visiting the original California park.
