Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Marvel line, this figure commemorates Magneto’s appearance in the 2024 animated series X-Men ‘97. The series serves as a direct continuation of the classic 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series, aiming to capture the nostalgia of the original era while utilizing updated animation techniques. Funko designed this piece to reflect the character's refined aesthetic in the show, maintaining his iconic purple and red color palette while adhering to the stylized, large-headed vinyl proportions characteristic of the brand.
The design process for this figure focused on integrating the high-stakes narrative tension of the revival series into a static collectible format. By highlighting Magneto’s role as both a complex leader and a focal point of the show's political themes, Funko aimed to appeal to long-time fans of the comic source material and newcomers to the animated iteration. Upon its release, the figure was met with enthusiasm from collectors who appreciated the faithful translation of the character's updated costume design into the Pop! aesthetic.
