Where it came from
Released in 2015, this figure represents Mal, the protagonist of the Disney Channel original movie Descendants. The piece was part of the initial wave of Funko Pop! collectibles inspired by the film, which explores the lives of the teenage children of iconic Disney villains. The design captures Mal’s signature aesthetic from the film, featuring her distinct purple-streaked hair and leather-inspired outfit, reflecting the franchise's blend of dark fairy-tale themes and contemporary teen drama.
The figure was designed to appeal to the broad demographic of Disney fans and young audiences who connected with the film's message of self-discovery and its musical elements. As part of the Pop! Disney line, it adheres to the stylized, large-headed aesthetic characteristic of the brand. Upon release, the figure was well-received by fans of the franchise, serving as a primary piece of merchandise for collectors who appreciated the film's modern take on classic Disney characters.
