Where it came from
The Martian Pop! figure, released as number 1 in the Pop! Sci-Fi line, was inspired by the iconic aliens from Tim Burton's 1996 film Mars Attacks!. This metallic variant was produced as a limited chase edition, distinguishing itself from the standard release through its distinct, reflective finish that pays homage to the vibrant and campy aesthetic of the original source material.
Funko introduced this piece during the early expansion of their Pop! vinyl line, a period when the company was establishing its signature oversized-head design language. The design, credited to the broader Funko creative team, sought to translate the grotesque, big-brained look of the Martian invaders into the simplified, accessible medium of stylized collectibles, quickly becoming a sought-after piece for enthusiasts of retro science fiction.
