Where it came from
Marv is a vinyl figure from the Funko Pop! Movies line, released to commemorate the character’s appearance in the seminal 2005 neo-noir film Sin City. The design is based on the hardened, gravelly-voiced protagonist originally created by Frank Miller for his graphic novel series. The figure captures his iconic look, complete with his heavily bandaged face, long trench coat, and weathered expression, mirroring the high-contrast, black-and-white aesthetic that defined the film’s unique visual style.
Funko’s design team aimed to translate the gritty, stylized art of Miller’s comic panels into the brand’s signature chibi-style silhouette. The figure, designated number 1919 in the Movies series, represents an effort to catalog iconic cinematic characters for collectors. While the film version of Marv is famously portrayed by Mickey Rourke, the figure focuses on the archetypal graphic novel character, standing as a piece of memorabilia that acknowledges the enduring legacy of the dark, urban crime noir genre.
