Where it came from
The Mary Sanderson on Broom Pop! figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney line, specifically honoring the 1993 cult classic film Hocus Pocus. Funko introduced this figure to capture the whimsical yet eerie aesthetic of the Sanderson sisters, drawing inspiration directly from the character Mary Sanderson’s iconic scene involving her makeshift broomstick. The design team focused on translating the exaggerated, stylized proportions typical of the Pop! brand while retaining signature details such as Mary’s unique hairstyle and her distinctive crooked smile.
Upon its release, the figure was met with enthusiasm by fans of the movie, many of whom had long requested merchandise representing the Sanderson sisters. It serves as a commemorative piece within the broader Hocus Pocus collection, reflecting the enduring nostalgia for the film. By distilling the character’s personality into a compact vinyl form, the designers aimed to provide a recognizable tribute that fits seamlessly into existing Disney-themed displays, marking a significant entry for collectors of film-related vinyl figures.
