Where it came from
The Merry Minstrel Pop! figure was released as part of the Disney Haunted Mansion collection, specifically commemorating the iconic singing busts featured in the graveyard scene of the classic dark ride. Produced by Funko, this figure captures the spirit of the attraction's distinct animatronics, which have been a centerpiece of the ride since its opening at Disneyland in 1969. The design team focused on translating the ride's ghoulish yet whimsical aesthetic into the signature stylized Funko form, complete with the bust's recognizable period-appropriate attire and expressive, ghostly features.
The release was designed to appeal to the dedicated fanbase of the Haunted Mansion, a franchise that has sustained a cult following for decades. By focusing on individual characters like the Merry Minstrel, Funko aimed to provide collectors with a way to curate their own versions of the graveyard choir found at the end of the attraction. Upon its debut, the figure was well-received by theme park enthusiasts and Pop! collectors alike, serving as a nostalgic tribute to the intersection of modern vinyl toy culture and historic Disney Imagineering.
