Where it came from
The Michael Jordan Pop! figure, designated as number 55 within the Pop! Basketball line, was released by Funko to celebrate one of the most iconic athletes in sports history. Created to capture Jordan in his signature Chicago Bulls black alternate uniform, the figure reflects Funko's established design language, featuring the characteristic oversized head, simplified facial features, and petite frame that has become the hallmark of the brand's aesthetic since its inception in the mid-2000s.
This particular collectible emerged as part of Funko's broader initiative to secure licensing with the NBA, bringing legends of the sport into the vinyl figure format. Designed by the internal Funko creative team, the figure was intended to appeal to both basketball enthusiasts and pop-culture collectors. Upon its release, it was met with significant enthusiasm, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after pieces in the basketball series due to Jordan's enduring global legacy and the stark visual appeal of the black alternate jersey.
