Where it came from
The Misfits Fiend Funko Pop, numbered 33 in the Pop! Rocks series, was released to honor the iconic mascot of the legendary horror-punk band, the Misfits. The character, known as the 'Fiend,' was originally inspired by a 1946 film serial poster featuring the character Crimson Ghost, which band co-founder Jerry Only adopted as the group's visual identity. The design captures the character's signature skeletal features and hooded shroud, distilling the band's gothic aesthetic into the classic, large-headed vinyl silhouette that defines the Funko brand.
This figure emerged as part of Funko's broader initiative to celebrate influential figures in music history through their stylized Pop! vinyl line. It is widely regarded as a significant piece of merchandise for both punk rock enthusiasts and collectors of music-themed memorabilia, bridging the gap between underground subculture and mainstream collectible trends. Upon its release, it was well-received for its faithfulness to the original mascot, effectively preserving the dark, campy horror legacy that has defined the Misfits since their formation in New Jersey in the late 1970s.
