Where it came from
Moametal, the stage persona of Moa Kikuchi, was immortalized as a Funko Pop! figure in 2017 as part of the Pop! Rocks series, specifically numbered 45. This collection was produced to celebrate the global phenomenon of Babymetal, a Japanese heavy metal idol group that bridged the gap between J-pop and metal music. The figure was released alongside bandmates Su-metal and Yuimetal to capture the group’s signature stage aesthetic during their ascent to international stardom.
The design of the figure reflects the band's distinctive gothic-lolita inspired performance attire, featuring the iconic black and red color scheme associated with their early era. Funko’s designers aimed to miniaturize the high-energy, choreographed presence the trio displayed on stage. Upon release, the set was received warmly by both the 'The One' fan community and broader pop culture collectors, serving as a rare piece of merchandise that acknowledged the unique cultural impact of the band's fusion genre.
