Where it came from
MODOK, an acronym for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, originated in the Marvel Comics universe in 1967. Originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby as a recurring antagonist for Captain America, the character underwent a significant visual reimagining for his live-action debut in the 2023 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This Funko Pop figure captures that specific cinematic interpretation, featuring the character's signature oversized head and metallic mechanical chair aesthetic.
As part of the Pop! Marvel line, this figure was produced to coincide with the theatrical release of the film. Funko designers aimed to translate the complex practical and digital effects used in the movie into their standard vinyl format. The design choice prioritizes the character's distinctively grotesque proportions, a hallmark of his comic book origins, while aligning with the stylized, simplified aesthetic that defines the broader collection of figures based on Marvel Cinematic Universe characters.
