Where it came from
The Nick Morton Funko Pop, numbered 436 in the Pop! Movies line, was released in 2017 to coincide with the theatrical debut of the film The Mummy, directed by Alex Kurtzman. As part of a larger marketing push for the Dark Universe reboot, the figure depicts the character portrayed by Tom Cruise, capturing his likeness in the classic, oversized-head aesthetic characteristic of Funko's design language.
The design of the figure leans into the utilitarian aesthetic of the character, emphasizing the rugged adventurer motif typical of blockbuster action films. While the movie itself faced a polarized reception from critics and audiences alike, the collectible serves as a snapshot of the brief effort by Universal Pictures to establish a cohesive cinematic monster universe during that period.
