Where it came from
The Patch Pop! figure, numbered 1615 in the Marvel series, depicts Wolverine in his iconic undercover persona. This version of the character first appeared in the 1988 Wolverine series by Chris Claremont and John Buscema, set in the fictional island nation of Madripoor. The design adopts the visual shorthand of the character’s noir-inspired disguise, featuring his classic eyepatch, white suit jacket, and slicked-back hair, capturing the moody, international espionage aesthetic of his solo adventures.
Funko’s design team developed this figure to lean into the nostalgic appeal of 1990s comic book variants and fan-favorite deep cuts from the Marvel archives. Released as part of a broader wave of Marvel collectibles, the figure is intended to resonate with long-time comic readers familiar with the Madripoor era. It received a standard reception upon launch, being categorized as a niche but welcomed addition for completist collectors focusing on Wolverine’s extensive list of aliases.
