Plane Crazy Mickey (Black and White)

Plane Crazy Mickey was released as part of the Disney Archives collection to commemorate the 1928 short film of the same name. As the inaugural production of the Mickey Mouse character, the short reflects the early, frantic energy of Walt Disney’s animation style. This Funko Pop captures the pilot-goggled look Mickey wore during his first flight, serving as a monochromatic tribute to the history of animation before the introduction of color.

The design draws heavily on the original 1928 hand-drawn aesthetic, opting for a greyscale palette to honor the medium of silent-era film. Funko’s approach for this figure was to simplify the character’s lines to mimic the stark, high-contrast look of early cartoons. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors who focus on the Disney Archives series, as it represents the fundamental point of origin for the entire Mickey Mouse franchise.
