Where it came from
Released in 2018 as part of the Funko Pop! Rocks series, this figure commemorates the iconic American musician Prince. The design captures the artist's legendary appearance from the 'Purple Rain' era, featuring his characteristic long coat, ruffled shirt, and iconic guitar. Funko developed this piece as a tribute to Prince’s profound influence on global pop culture and music history following his passing in 2016, aiming to offer fans a tangible connection to his visual legacy.
The figure was created under the guidance of Funko’s design team, who focused on distilling Prince’s flamboyant stage presence into the brand’s signature stylized aesthetic. It was received by the collector community as a significant entry in the Rocks line, particularly appreciated for its attention to detail regarding the specific costume elements that became synonymous with Prince’s public image. It remains a staple for fans seeking to honor the legacy of one of the most prolific performers of the twentieth century.
