Where it came from
The Protagonist Funko Pop, numbered 1239 within the Pop! Games series, represents the lead character from Persona 5, known as Joker. Released to commemorate the enduring popularity of the Persona series, this figure captures the character's iconic thief attire, featuring his signature black trench coat, mask, and red gloves. The design aims to distill the stylized, high-contrast aesthetic of the game into the classic Funko form, emphasizing the character's mysterious and rebellious persona.
The figure was produced as part of a wider initiative to expand Funko's representation of Japanese role-playing game protagonists. Developed under the Atlus licensing umbrella, the design team focused on maintaining the sleek silhouette of Joker while adhering to the standard proportions of the Pop! line. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the franchise who sought an accessible, stylized collectible that reflects the distinct art direction established by character designer Shigenori Soejima.
