Where it came from
Rainbow Brite and Sprite, identified as Pop! Animation figure number 1796, was released by Funko to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1980s animated television series and media franchise. Originally debuting in 1983 as part of a marketing collaboration between Hallmark Cards and DIC Enterprises, the Rainbow Brite character was designed to embody optimism and color, quickly becoming a cornerstone of children's entertainment during the mid-80s through an extensive line of dolls, books, and broadcast specials.
The design of this Funko Pop! figure captures the iconic look of the protagonist alongside her magical companion, Twink the Sprite. Funko's adaptation translates the character’s hallmark bright aesthetic into the company's signature stylized vinyl format, appealing to both nostalgic adult collectors who grew up with the show and newer fans of classic animation properties. Like many entries in the Animation series, it is intended as a tribute to the character's long-standing cultural footprint in the realm of Saturday morning cartoons.
