Screaming Clown

The Screaming Clown figure is part of the Pop! Asia series, released as a collaboration between Funko and the renowned contemporary artist Ron English. It originates from English's 'Sugar Circus' collection, a series of works that juxtaposes bright, toy-like aesthetics with darker, satirical commentary on consumer culture and the obesity epidemic. The design translates English's signature visual style—characterized by distorted, surrealist imagery and pop-art sensibilities—into the iconic, blocky Funko Pop format.

The figure features the unsettling grin and vibrant, garish makeup typical of English’s take on circus motifs, intended to bridge the gap between high-art collectible vinyl toys and mass-market pop culture memorabilia. Upon its release, it was received as a notable departure from standard licensed characters, appealing primarily to collectors who specialize in designer toys and urban art rather than traditional franchise-based merchandise.
