Where it came from
The Sidney Crosby Pop! figure, designated as number 46 in the NHL series, was released by Funko to celebrate one of the most recognizable faces in modern hockey. As the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins and a multiple-time Stanley Cup champion, Crosby represents a pivotal figure in the league's contemporary era. This specific variant, featuring the team's iconic yellow alternate jersey, was produced to capture the distinct aesthetic of the Penguins' uniform during a period of high team visibility.
Funko designed this piece to mirror the standard Pop! aesthetic, featuring the signature oversized head and simplified facial features that define the brand. By focusing on the details of the team's gold and black color palette, the designers aimed to create a recognizable commemorative item for sports fans. Since its debut, the figure has been sought after by collectors interested in professional hockey memorabilia and those looking to highlight key players from the Pittsburgh franchise's storied recent history.
