Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Icons series, this figure commemorates the legendary Marvel Comics writer and editor Stan Lee. The design draws inspiration from his memorable cameo appearance in the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok, where he serves as the Grandmaster's barber on the planet Sakaar. The figure captures his unique costume from that sequence, complete with the multi-bladed apparatus he uses to prune Thor’s hair.
The piece reflects Funko's strategy of bridging comic book history with cinematic milestones by immortalizing Lee’s long-standing tradition of appearing in Marvel Studios productions. As an Icons release, it focuses on celebrating the figurehead behind the characters rather than the characters themselves, a sentiment that resonated deeply with the fan community following Lee’s passing in 2018. It stands as a tribute to his playful presence within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
