Stingray

The Stingray Pop! figure, numbered 156 in the Marvel series, was released by Funko as part of a wave dedicated to deep-cut characters within the Marvel Comics universe. Stingray, whose real name is Walter Newell, first appeared in the comics in the late 1960s as a marine scientist who dons a specialized armored suit to battle underwater threats. The Funko design captures his signature aquatic aesthetic, featuring his distinctive yellow and teal costume and wing-like cape, translating his retro-comic look into the stylized, large-headed vinyl format characteristic of the Pop! line.

This figure emerged during a period when Funko significantly expanded its Marvel collection to include secondary and tertiary characters beyond the primary Avengers or X-Men rosters. Designed with the standard Pop! aesthetic of simplified, oversized facial features and a molded body, the piece was aimed at completist collectors and fans of classic Marvel lore. While Stingray remains a niche character in the broader public consciousness, the release served as a nod to the extensive history of the Marvel bullpen, offering enthusiasts a chance to own a physical representation of an often-overlooked hero from the publisher's long-running catalog.
