Where it came from
The Stripe Black Light Funko Pop, numbered 1421, is part of a specialized sub-series within the Pop! Movies line. It draws its inspiration from the 1984 Joe Dante film Gremlins, specifically the antagonist Stripe. The design utilizes a vibrant, high-contrast palette intended to fluoresce under black light, a common aesthetic treatment in Funko’s stylized, collectible figure releases.
This particular figure reflects the broader trend of monochromatic or neon-variant collectibles that reinterpret classic pop culture icons. By transforming the mischievous Mogwai-turned-Gremlin into a psychedelic, glow-responsive display piece, Funko leaned into the nostalgia of 80s horror-comedy. It was designed to cater to both fans of the film and collectors who prioritize unique, visually striking colorways over screen-accurate representation.
