Tang

The Tang figure is part of the Pop! Asia series, a collection launched by Funko to broaden its reach into international markets, particularly East Asia. Released as number 163, this piece draws from the Ancient Armour Warrior series, which celebrates historical and mythological figures from China's rich military past. These designs were crafted to blend contemporary vinyl aesthetic with the intricate, storied details of traditional armor, creating a bridge between pop culture collectibles and historical reverence.

The design focus for this line was to capture the essence of a classical warrior while maintaining the signature Funko style of exaggerated proportions and simplified features. The figure is modeled after the aesthetic of a Tang Dynasty soldier, utilizing specific color palettes and helmet detailing associated with the era. Upon release, the figure was well-received by collectors who specialize in regional cultural releases, as it offered a distinct stylistic departure from Western-centric franchises.
